Countries with the largest average breast sizes revealed — here’s how the US compares

Countries with the Largest Average Breast Sizes Revealed: US Ranks Second

A new analysis has ranked countries by average breast sizes, with the United States taking second place. The findings, published by the World Population Review, examined 108 nations, uncovering which had the largest average bust sizes—and which ranked at the lower end of the spectrum.

“Breast size is unique to every woman and influenced by factors such as genetics, diet, weight, BMI, fitness levels, and age,” the report stated, noting that average cup sizes ranged from AA to C depending on the country.

Researchers found a strong link between breast size and BMI, as higher BMI scores often correlated with larger bust measurements. However, Norway emerged as a surprising exception. Despite its relatively lower average BMI of 26.2, the Scandinavian nation topped the list with an average bust size between C and D cups.

The US followed in second place, with an average BMI of 29 and a cup size of C. Meanwhile, the UK ranked third, with a BMI of 27.1 and an average C cup size.

At the bottom of the rankings was Greenland, where the average bra size was reported as A cups, paired with a BMI of 26.7.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a BMI score over 25 is considered overweight, while a BMI above 30 is classified as obese. The researchers noted that larger breast sizes tend to appear more frequently in countries where obesity is prevalent.

“The female breast consists largely of fatty tissue and glands,” the report explained. “Its shape and size depend on genetic factors as well as the fat content and composition of connective tissue.”

Bra sizes are determined by measuring two key areas: the band size (underbust) and the fullest part of the breast. The difference between these measurements dictates the cup size, with larger discrepancies resulting in larger cup volumes.

The report emphasized that cup size also varies based on band size. For instance, a 32C is significantly smaller in volume than a 42C, even though both share the same cup designation.
