Julia Garner Shares Her 'Terrifying' Experience Filming Wolf Man

Julia Garner shares feeling 'scared' during the shooting of 'Wolf Man'

Leigh Whannell, known for his work in the horror genre, takes fear to a new level with Wolf Man, according to its star Julia Garner. She described the film as "the scariest" among the director's works, crediting its chilling realism for the effect.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Garner explained how the gradual transformation of a man into a wolf heightened the terror. "It’s scarier when it’s a slower transition because I could still recognize little elements of Chris," the Ozark actress said.

"His skin and hair were changing, but his eyes stayed the same. If you want to make something truly frightening, make it familiar. That’s why dolls in horror movies are so effective—you see them every day. With Wolf Man, Charlotte still sees her husband, but he’s no longer there, and that’s what makes it so terrifying."

Garner also shared her reaction to co-star Christopher Abbott’s prosthetics as his character undergoes the horrifying transformation after being bitten by a creature.

"The first time I saw him with the prosthetics, I couldn’t stop staring," she recalled. "It was so weird and bizarre. I just thought, ‘Oh my God, this is terrifying.’ But after a few days, I got used to it."

Wolf Man is now playing in theaters, delivering a chilling exploration of the familiar turned monstrous.
