Selena Gomez shared and then promptly deleted a video reacting to the nationwide immigration enforcement sweeps initiated by the Trump administration on Sunday, which led to over 1,000 arrests.
In her now-deleted post, Gomez began by apologizing before breaking down in tears.
“My people are being attacked—the children. I don’t understand,” Gomez said through sobs. “I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
She later returned to social media with a follow-up message on her Instagram stories, stating, “Apparently, showing empathy for people isn’t acceptable.”
