Christy Carlson Romano Injured in Clay Shooting Incident

Christy Carlson Romano is counting her blessings after a frightening accident.

The 40-year-old actress, widely recognized for her roles in Even Stevens and Kim Possible, shared on Instagram that she was hurt while shooting clay pigeons in Texas. Romano was celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday when an unexpected mishap occurred.

According to Romano, another person at the event fired a shot in the wrong direction, hitting her in the face.

Her husband immediately assessed her injuries and took her to the hospital.

"I was hit in five different places, and one was dangerously close—less than an inch—from my right eye," she revealed. "Unfortunately, a fragment is lodged behind my eye, and doctors say it’s too risky to remove at this time. They’ll continue to monitor me, but for now, my vision remains intact."

Despite the ordeal, Romano is focusing on the positives.

"With everything that happened, all I can think about is how lucky I am to be alive," she wrote. "I love my daughters, my husband, my family, and my friends so much. My life flashed before my eyes, and I just want to remind everyone—hug your loved ones every chance you get. Life can change in an instant."

Rooney, deeply moved by the incident, praised his wife in the comments.

"You are the bravest and toughest woman I have ever met," he wrote. "I am so thankful you are alive."

In his own Instagram post, Rooney shared a photo of Romano in her hospital bed, flipping him off with a smile.

"My wife gets shot, I ask to take a picture for the record, she flips me the bird and smiles (she nearly lost her eye, mind you)," he joked. "When they say there’s no such thing as ‘The One,’ they lie…"

Following her initial post, Romano returned to Instagram Stories to acknowledge the overwhelming support from fans.

"I’m feeling the love," she shared. "This has been scary, and your positivity means so much to my healing." She also encouraged her followers to "tell those close to you you love them—for me."

Romano is best known for voicing the title character in the Disney Channel animated series Kim Possible and starring as Ren Stevens opposite Shia LaBeouf in Even Stevens.
