Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano Erupts Again, Unleashing Towering Lava Fountains

A spectacular display of lava is erupting from a volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island. Eighth Phase of Kilauea Summit Eruption Now Underway.

On Tuesday, Kilauea’s ongoing eruption continued with a dramatic surge, as molten rock shot high into the air. According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, fiery fountains from a volcanic vent reached impressive heights of over 250 feet (76.2 meters) on Monday night.

By Tuesday morning, live webcam footage captured vivid streams of glowing red lava pouring from the vent.

Kilauea, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, began this latest eruption on December 23 inside its summit crater.

This event marks the eruption’s eighth phase. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported that small, intermittent bursts of lava first appeared on Sunday before intensifying. Within just one hour on Monday night, the fountains surged from 50 feet (15.24 meters) to 250 feet (76.2 meters).

The eruption remains confined within a restricted section of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and does not pose any risk to homes or infrastructure.
