Dublin Transforms into a Sea of Green for St Patrick's Day Festivities
Dublin is awash with green this St Patrick’s Day, as the city comes alive with celebrations and visitors from across the globe.
The excitement had been growing since the early hours, and now the festivities are in full swing with a grand parade taking center stage before the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
An estimated 500,000 spectators, both local and international, are gathered to witness thousands of performers bringing the streets to life with a vibrant and imaginative procession.
Visitors from all corners of the world have embraced the occasion, donning various shades of green while enjoying the lively sounds of traditional Irish music, energetic performances by local and international marching bands, and non-stop entertainment along the streets.
The parade winds its way through O'Connell Street, past the historic Trinity College, and onward to St Stephen’s Green.
With over 4,000 participants, the spectacle includes international marching bands, talented performers, dancers, and intricately designed St Patrick’s Day floats.
The city has been bustling with excitement throughout the weekend, as eager revellers arrived early to immerse themselves in the annual celebrations.
A massive logistical effort has been in motion to ensure the smooth running of the parade and to accommodate the large crowds.
Ahead of the event, President Higgins and his wife, Sabina, departed Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the Irish president, to attend Mass at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral in the heart of Dublin.
This year's parade carries the theme 'eachtrai' (adventures), aiming to capture Ireland’s spirit of exploration while celebrating community, diversity, and inclusivity.

A special pageant will mark four decades of Pavee Point, an Irish non-governmental organisation (NGO), by showcasing the rich traditions of the Irish Traveller and Roma communities.
While the main parade unfolds throughout the afternoon, the international festivities in Dublin are set to continue well into the night.
