Gemini App Now Accessible Without Google Account Login

Since its initial release, accessing the Gemini app required signing in with a Google Account. However, that restriction has now been lifted.

Starting today, when you visit gemini.google.com in Incognito Mode or a similar browsing setting, you are taken straight to the chat interface rather than the previous landing page. Users can input queries and receive responses, with Google also providing a few suggested prompts: Save me time, Write an essay on the history of chess, Help me plan, and Give me study tips.

For users who are not logged in, the greeting changes from “Hello, [name]” to “Meet Gemini, your personal AI assistant,” aligning with the experience on Google Search.

The model selection menu, which includes 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental), Deep Research, and Personalization (experimental), is visible, but a sign-in is required to “explore the newest Gemini models.” Therefore, those who remain signed out will be using Gemini 2.0 Flash by default.

Logging in is also necessary to upload files and review chat history, highlighting Google's preference for account-based usage, as indicated by the three identical buttons in the provided screenshot.

As for the Gemini app on Android, signing in is still mandatory for access.
